The Harish Iyer Show on QWEED

The Harish Iyer Show

After the recent verdict where the Supreme Court scrapped, section 377 of Indian Penal Court, we have been getting tons of requests from our readers that they want more content on Gender and Sexuality. In an attempt to make people aware of different gender and sexual identities, QWEED is happy to announce that a Weekly Podcast show will be aired on every Wednesday.

The show will be presented to you by none other than Harish Iyer. Through this collaboration, we try to explore a better understanding and narrative towards people of all genders, treading to Gender Sensitization in our communities. Harish who is not new to Radio and the Internet happens to be the host of India’s First Queer radio show.

Here is a part of the message which he has shared on Facebook.

This day, half a decade ago, 11-12-13, was the day when our prayers went unanswered and we were relegated to being a minority, so small that we were deemed insignificant a number. Let’s remember what happened on that date. And never ever never forget.
Lest we forget!
The state was in our bedroom, this day, and bullies had a field day.
Lest we forget!
The many hard days that followed. The many accounts of discrimination where miscreants used the law as a justification to their bigotry.
Lest we forget!
We are talking about beings here. Living breathing beings, many of them who died after their battle with prejudice, seeded by the law of the state.
Lest we forget!
Our people who live beyond the binaries, and if that was not difficult enough, the shame the ridicule that drowned us all in shame.
Lest we forget!
The highest Court had weakened our debate and eventually gave the average bully the power to relegate the discourse to simply intercourse. Something that they thought was unnatural
Lest we forget!
The new voices that were born in society just as white blood cells rise to provide immunity.
Lest we forget!
The day of the rage. 15 – 12 – 13 where we raised our rainbows world over, as one people who believed in the power of one love.
Lest we forget!
Our letters that went unanswered by almost all of the MPs. That we were made to feel so small to deserve ant response.
Lest we forget!
The hate mails. The street bullies. The goons and the buffoons who came out to have a field day.
Lest we forget!
The parents, the psychologists, the academicians, the doctors, the activists, everyone who came out and screamed out – ‘I am queer’. ‘My child is queer’ and slowly the minuscule minority became one of the loudest voices.
Lest we forget…………………………………………………………….
