One of the last bastions of Maoist struggle, the Niyamgiri hills houses deities of Kondh and Soura population of the region. As the government’s combing operations have slowed down in dense forests, it acts as a haven for insurgency base camps. The population lives under the constant threat of either being labeled as insurgents or police informers. 

I tried to capture another aspect in the native population of the region which is having a huge impact in their livelihood, nutrition, and culture.

Unavailability off healthcare facilities in vicinity adds to the cost of treatment. If the crop fails or prices crash, a family goes through stress, anxiety, insecurity, and violence.  the faces reflect the gravity of the situation but now they are trapped in a cesspool of fewer wages, diseases, high medical cost and farm debts.
